Marge and Jerry Gavenda Endowed Scholarship

Marge and Jerry Gavenda are strong supporters of their Frisco and Breckenridge communities serving on multiple nonprofit boards and philanthropic efforts. They wanted to add Colorado Mountain College to that list of support. Because Marge married at a young age, she never had the opportunity to go to college although she always saw great value in higher education and encouraged her own children to attend. Marge stated, “Being married at 17, I would have loved to go to college, but there was just no money. I always had a yearning to go to school later in life.” She and Jerry are establishing this annual scholarship to support and make a way for someone who may be in Marge’s former position, a working parent or nontraditional student, who would like to continue his/her education.
Eligibility: Scholarship for a non-traditional student enrolled at the CMC Breckenridge/Dillon Campuses to pursue an Associate or Bachelor degree. Student must be classified as in-district for tuition purposes and must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or greater. Recipient must enroll in at least 6 credit hours per semester to receive award. Scholarship Renewal Requirements: Scholarship will be renewed contingent on satisfactory completion of classes including a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater. Award Amount: Amount of award will be based on enrollment as follows: 6 to 9 credit hours: $1200 per year ($600 per semester), 9 or more credit hours: $2225 per year ($1113 per semester)
