Colorado communities. Specifically, read and evaluate financial documents and grant requests, and provide grant recommendations  Serve as an liaison for one of the 11 regional councils and assist with strategic distribution of $200,000 in annual discretionary grants
 Provide research, meeting facilitation, and community development support for regional councils
 Conduct on-site community impact visits to assess the effectiveness and impact of El Pomar grants in the community
 Research areas of interest to the Foundation to meet the ever changing needs of the state
 Represent El Pomar Foundation at community events and programs throughout Colorado
 Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
 Program specific responsibilities include project management, budget development and oversight, and strategic planning
Leadership/Professional Development
To develop leadership and professional skills, Fellows participate in a number of yearlong programs:
 Investment Challenge: Designed to educate Fellows on the connection between investment management of Foundation’s corpus and its annual grantmaking activities. Provides Fellows with an understanding of basic financial investing and personal financial skills
 Nonprofit Management: Taught by an adjunct faculty member of the University of Colorado, this course explores various aspects of the nonprofit world such as marketing and communications, financial statements, fund development, ethics, strategic planning, and board governance
 Outward Bound: Fellows participate in a 7-day outdoor leadership course with Colorado Outward Bound School
 Leadership Plenty: A program to empower individuals to “think in new ways about who can be a leader, how diverse leaders can work together effectively, and what action they can take”
 Personal Leadership/Career Development: Fellows have access to several behavioral instruments, to include Myers Briggs, TKI Conflict Management, Change Style Indicator, 360-feedback, and Strong Campbell Career Interest Inventory, as part of their personal development
Applicant Qualifications
 Applicants must be a graduate of a four-year university or college
 Applicants should have a Colorado connection, e.g. be a state resident, have attended an in-state college/university, or have family who are current or past residents
 Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership potential and capabilities, a strong work ethic, the ability to work as a member of a team, and an interest in community development
 Applicants must possess strong verbal communication and writing skills
 Applicants must have the capability to travel throughout the state of Colorado on official Foundation business
Duration of the Fellowship
The Fellowship generally lasts two years from the date of entry into the program. An annual class of Fellows begins in mid-July. Specific entry and completion dates will be based on Foundation requirements at the time and individual considerations. Employment with the Foundation is considered to be “at-will.” Colorado is an “at-will” state, meaning that employees and employers may voluntarily enter into and cease employment agreements at any time.
Pay and Benefits
Starting hourly pay is $14.90. Post-undergraduate work experience and/or education may be given consideration in starting compensation level. Benefits are competitive.
