10th Mountain Division Hut Association
The 10th Mountain Division Hut Association is a non-profit organization that manages, for public use, a mountain hut system that promotes understanding and appreciation of the natural mountain environment while developing individual self-reliance. The 10th Mountain Division owns and operates 14 back-country huts in the Leadville, Vail, and Aspen areas. “The name honors the men of the 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army who trained during World War II at Camp Hale (Leadville), were victorious in many important alpine war battles in Europe, and upon their return were instrumental in development skiing in the United States.” Hut visitors share the spirit of these individuals, especially their pursuit of excellence, self-reliance, and love of the outdoors.
